Unwanted hair is a common problem for women and men and personal grooming products and waxing can be expensive, it is no surprise that people are turning to IPL hair removal treatments as a solution to combat the problem of unwanted hair.

What happens during my consultation?

Your nurse will take a comprehensive medical history, find out what your expectations are, ensure the treatment is appropriate for you and if it would be successful and how many sessions may be required. The consultation takes approximately 30 minutes and is free and without obligation. A patch test will be performed for your safety and insurance purposes. It is also a requirement that photographs of the treatment area are taken before and after each treatment session for insurance purposes.

What happens during my treatment appointment?

Preparation

We will try to maintain dignity and privacy by covering areas as much as possible. A cold laser/IPL gel will be applied to the treatment area.

Treatment

Treatment commences with shots of IPL which can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour depending on the area to be treated. These shots will feel warm/hot and should be tolerated by the patient.

What’s the aftercare advice?

For hair removal we have a 30 day before and after no sun exposure rule which includes sun beds and tanning creams. These can cause hypo / hyper pigmentation problems within the skin. All other after care will be discussed at your treatment appointment.

How long will it take?

Permanent hair reduction / removal takes approximately between 3-6 sessions at 4-6 week intervals.

Who is not suitable for this treatment?

This very much depends on your individual medical history and current medications. All of which would be discussed at your free consultation. Your nurse is available before, during and after each treatment to answer any questions you may have.
