What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation procedure. A sterile blade is carefully used to used to gently remove dead skin cells and vellus hair (peach fuzz) leaving a very smooth surface. This facilitates product penetration through the skin layers, makes skin look more radiant and aids smoother makeup application. Dermaplaning can help with skin congestion by removing the build-up of dead skin cells, debris pollutants, keratin, oil and sebum.
what is oilplaning?
Occasionally ‘Oilplaning’ is performed if your Skin Therapist feels that your skin may be reactive, dry or dehydrated. A non-comedogenic oil rich in linoleic acid is applied before the dermaplaning procedure. The oil acts as a barrier to help reduce the risk of irritation, protects the acid mantle which is essential for a healthy skin barrier and makes the procedure more comfortable for those with sensitive skin.
What happens during my consultation?
Your skin therapist will take a medical and social history and perform a skin analysis to determine whether dermaplaning is an appropriate treatment for you to receive and whether it will help you achieve the results that you are looking for. This will also reduce the risk of any unwanted side effects from the treatment. During this consultation the potential risks and aftercare recommendations are discussed.
what skin concerns can dermaplaning treat?
Dermaplaning is simply a manual exfoliation procedure. Many clinics, health care professionals or skin therapists claim that dermaplaning can treat a variety of skin conditions or concerns. This is not always the case.
If you would like a simple facial which exfoliates your skin each cycle, removes vellus hair and makes the skin appear smoother and more radiant temporarily or for a certain event then this one is for you.
dermaplaning is not suitable for skin with:-
- Numerous raised Moles or skin tags.
- Compromised barrier – Active acne, multiple skin blemishes, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema on the face. Skin with recent sunburn, sensitive areas, or open wounds.
- Recent Roaccutane/Isotretinoin use within last 6 months
how often is it recommended to have treatment?
Ideally an exfoliation treatment is performed after every skin cycle which is usually 4/5 weeks. If you notice vellus hair regrowth and have a special event before it can be performed sooner.

Dermaplaning/Oilplaning Deluxe
(60 mins)
This treatment includes a Dermalux treatment (LED Light therapy) following your facial.
LED light therapy can be applied immediately after the procedure. Blue light destroys acne-causing bacteria to reduce breakouts. Red light energises the skin and repairs and renews cells for increased collagen and elastin. Near-infrared works to reduce inflammation, calm irritation and strengthen the skin.
The Dermalux treatment also promotes a sense of relaxation following the treatment.
Dermaplaning Peel2Glow
A superficial chemical peel is applied following the dermaplaning treatment. A alphahydroxyacid and polyhydroxyacid peel solution is applied to exfoliate the stratum corneum further to improve the texture and clarity of the skin.
The peel is removed and a glow solution applied containing a comprehensive formula or four anti-ageing peptides and hyaluronic acid to plump and firm the skin.
