What product is used?
The product is called Desoface or Desobody, the medicine is Sodium Deoxycholate.
How do fat dissolving injections / Intralipotherapy work?
The medicine is injected into the subcutaneous fat resulting in cell-lysis (breaking down of the cells). The medicine has an affinity for the adipocyte (fat cell) and spares other structures like the skin and muscles.
The method of administration is called ‘Intralipotherapy’. When injected the fat cells are liquified and permanently destroyed. The fat is then removed naturally by the body’s lymphatic system.
When treating the body localised adiposity is reduced and skin firmness is improved. When treating the face, drainage of excess fluids takes place as well as reduced localised adiposity.
How popular is this treatment?
Deoxycolate injections have quickly become a popular non-surgical option in for treating a double chin. With a RealSelf Rating around 80%, many people are finding it a viable option to liposuction for this difficult-to-treat area.
We have been waiting for this treatment to come to the UK after Kybella was released in America in 2015 and Belkyra in Canada. We now have Desoface and Desobody in the UK which has been used in Europe.
What areas can be treated?

What happens during my consultation?
During your consultation a detailed medical history will be taken, helping the medical specialist to determine whether the Intralipotherapy treatment is an appropriate product/treatment for you to receive and whether it will help you achieve the results that you are looking for. This will also reduce the risk of any unwanted side effects from the treatment. During this consultation the potential risks and aftercare recommendations are discussed. You may also require this face to face assessment to determine how many peels you will require to achieve desired results.
What happens during my treatment appointment?
You will be made comfortable on a treatment couch whilst maintaining privacy and dignity. The treatment area will be cleansed.
A long intralipotherapy needle (body treatments) or cannula (facial treatments) will be inserted into subcutaneous fat at the treatment area and several passes will be made across that area filling the area with the medicine. The medicine is mixed with local anaesthetic therefore is quite comfortable.
Cleaning & Dressings
The skin will be cleansed and appropriate dressings applied
Compression garments are applied immediately after treatment and worn as per verbal and written aftercare instructions
What’s the aftercare advice?
