What product is used?
At Mid Yorkshire Skin Clinic we use a variety of fillers as we do not believe that one product fits all. We choose the product following patient assessment based on their individual needs. We use premium dermal fillers such as Belotero, Juvederm and Perfectha.
How does the MY Facelift work?
The MY facelift technique can be used on any one with generalised signs of ageing in the lower face. It’s possible to do milder versions on people in their mid-30s and for people with more signs of ageing more areas can be treated as required.
It’s not about filling lines with large amounts of filler in one place resulting in the ‘pillow face’ or overdone mouth area. The key difference with the MY facelift is the comprehensive approach using the best products available in conjunction with smarter injection techniques. Just like the supporting columns on a bridge, the filler supports at key points assuring a natural look.
You may have heard of the ‘8 point lift’ or the ‘MD Codes’ using dermal fillers, this was an innovative new way to achieving a gentle lifting effect developed by Mauricio de Maio from Brazil. It is also known as the ‘fluid or liquid face lift’.
At Mid Yorkshire Skin Clinic we are devoted to the art of aesthetics and prefer to tailor an aesthetic solution for each patient depending on the skin’s structural and functional needs. The MY facelift has an intelligent design for an advanced bespoke aesthetic solution with predictable and natural outcomes. We use a similar approach as the ‘8 point lift’; however we appreciate that not every patient requires all 8 points and some may require other areas treating.
As we age gravity can begin to pull the face down, a young-looking face has round contours, high cheekbones and a well-defined jawline. There are smooth curves from the cheeks to the edge of the nose, without hollows. Ageing causes the soft tissues of the face to lose volume. Skin also loses elasticity and then gravity takes hold. The skin starts to sag, pulling the features downwards.
This approach subtly reshapes cheeks to make them high and firm, restores facial volume, recreates more youthful proportions, smooths the jawline, accentuates curves of the cheekbones and replenishes moisture so that skin regains natural elasticity and tone.
Fillers used are from the Juvederm ‘Vycross’ range which can last 15-18 months, the Belotero range and Perfectha. We like to offer a range of fillers as ‘one product does not fit all’.
A free consultation prior to treatment is favourable in order to form a treatment plan.
How popular is this treatment?
This approach is becoming a more popular way of using dermal filler. We concentrate on replacing natural volume loss in the face to treat other areas indirectly. This technique delivers more natural results than filling lines, grooves and folds and is focusing on addressing the issue that is essentially causing these lines.
What areas can be treated?
- Crepy lines
- Marionette lines (Lines from corners of mouth)
- Midface volume loss
- Nasolabial folds (Lines from nose to mouth)
- Tear trough
What happens during my consultation?
During your consultation a detailed medical history will be taken, helping the medical specialist to determine whether the dermal filler is an appropriate product/treatment for you to receive and whether it will help you achieve the results that you are looking for. This will also reduce the risk of any unwanted side effects from dermal fillers. During this consultation the potential risks and aftercare recommendations are discussed, helping you determine whether this form of injectable treatment is really right for you. You may also require this face to face assessment to determine how much dermal filler you will require to achieve desired results.
What happens during my treatment appointment?
Local anaesthetic topical cream can be applied to the areas to be injected prior to the treatment if necessary, the skin is cleaned with an appropriate solution and the prefilled syringe of dermal filler is injected using a small needle.
The dermal filler is injected into the tissues to provide structure, volume or lift. The dermal filler also contains Lidocaine to numb the area further and make it more comfortable for the patient during treatment.
What’s the aftercare advice?
You will be given verbal and written advice. You will be able to see some results immediately where the product has been placed; you may also see some swelling and perhaps bruising. Best results are seen between 2-3 weeks, a review appointment will be made for this time. A second treatment is not usually required; however, it is good practice to review results.
You will be advised not to touch the treated areas and avoid makeup and alcohol on the treatment day. Also, you should avoid excessive heat such as sauna, steam room, sunbed, sunbathing and spa for 2 weeks. For safety reasons we do not treat our clients with dermal fillers too close to a holiday abroad, we suggest treatment at least 2 weeks in advance.
How long do the results last?
Who is not suitable for this treatment?
- Anyone allergic to any of the ingredients in the dermal filler (Hyaluronic acid is a natural constituent of skin therefore you would not be allergic to this) Lidocaine is usually present within the hyaluronic acid gel formulation
- Skin infection at the injection site
- Dermal filler treatment is contraindicated for some people with certain auto-immune diseases
- If you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breast-feeding (It is not known if the dermal filler can be harmful to your unborn child)
